Step 1: Complimentary Consultation. We kick off the process by discussing your requirements for the commission. This can be done by phone, e-mail or a visit to the studio. We will go through details including colors, design concept, size and time schedule. We encourage you to share images, ideas, swatches and color samples you might have which you consider integral to this project. If you are based locally, we are happy to offer a home visit for larger pieces to check dimensions and discuss details.

Step 2: Requirements gathering and design phase. Design is a separate and a very important part of the process. At this step we will convert your requirements into an image which will be used as a base for the project creation. We may go through multiple revisions with you until you are satisfied with the end result. The design will be copyright of Glass Can Dance and you will not own the design unless you choose to buy it separately. There will be no charge, of course, in using this design in the art glass creation process if you decide to engage it with Glass Can Dance.

Step 3: Ready to order? Once you are happy with everything we have discussed and all relevant information has been confirmed, we can place the order. At this stage we would compile an accurate time schedule for completion of the commission and discuss if any additional samples are required to confirm details. As every order is custom, a 50% deposit will be required to secure your order. Since the deposit will be used to pay for the materials and cover time spent on production, the deposit is non-refundable.

Step 4: One of a kind piece is made. The type of glass work needed will be highly dependent on the type of piece you had ordered. It can involve multiple firings in the kiln, painting, stained glass construction and cold-working of the pieces. Framing will be done if it is a recorded item on the contracted order.

Step 5: Delivery. Once your glass piece is finished and ready for collection or delivery, we will contact you to make arrangements. Work can either be collected from the studio and the balance paid on collection or work can be sent via courier (by prior arrangement) fully insured and the balance would be due prior to dispatching the work. Installation will be done at this time if it is a documented part of the contracted order.
